Needles!

Yesterday I was way too excited about our list of future home locations to tell you about my first acupuncture treatment!

The fact that we lived in the middle of nowhere for my first two IVFs meant there wasn't an acupuncturist to be found between my house and the docs 2.5 hours away! Now, although I still live kind of in the middle of nowhere, I have an acupuncturist about five minutes away. Yay!

My acupuncturist/chiropractor definitely has a quack factor about him. I have to say that because I can't really believe that by placing my hand on a silver/purple mouse like attachment connected to a computer can tell me things that I am missing in my diet, what bones in my back need adjustment, and what organs are stressed. But hey, who would think sticking needles in your ears would work either? Anyway, the analysis showed that I need adjustment in my lipotrophic (fat) balance, immune system and small pre/post natal vitamins and norepinephrine adjustments. Additionally the report was able to accurately identify my out-of-place vertebra which shocked the bejeezus out of me! Apparently the device sends electrical signals through the body and based upon the responses it gets it determines what you need. Hmm. I'm not sure what to think of this!

Then we headed into the acupuncture area for ocular (ear) acupuncture. With about twenty needles in my ears, I decided it was a little crowded in that area so I refrained from laying down or scratching. hehehe. Instead I sat and stared at the poster until they came to de-needle me. The sensations that would roll down my arms and legs when they tapped the needle in was pretty darn cool though.

Although I initially went in for just acupuncture, the doctor went ahead and cracked (adjusted) my neck and back. Ah, sigh of relief.

I walked out two hours later and simply felt marvelous! Yay for acupuncture!

  1. Yay, indeed.
While I'm not sure I buy the purple mouse holding all of the answers, it's pretty cool about figuring out your back!
I'm so glad you found him and that you are feeling so good! (and thanks for reminding me that I must must make an acu appointment!)

  2. So...I read every single one of your November posts, and I think you're awesome. I'm now a follower!

I'm so glad that your acupuncture appointment went well. I should do more research on that, as I've been hearing more and more about it recently.

    Good luck with this cycle!

    Happy ICLW!

I love the ear needling. My last visit I also had my sinus area needled and it was amazing!

  5. Sounds like a great appt! I was sort of skeptical of acupunctre too, but I tried when I went on a break from fertility treatments. But it worked for me! Good luck.

  6. New follower here....love your blog. Just a note on accupuncture...I did accupuncture for over a year while going through our IVF and then all through my pregnancy...YES...we got pregnant (at 41 and with a severe male factor)...so...I totolly believe in it...however, my accupuncturist looked a bit like santa! But boy was he good. I completely believe that it helped us. And..he then went on to tell me I was pregnant before the Beta and then correctly identified the gender of the baby at about 16 weeks. I say stick with it....if nothing else...it really helps keep you calm through all the crazyness of IVF.

I have never tried acupuncture. I tried deep tissue once.

Stopping by for an ICLW visit...

  8. Wow! I've never tried acupuncture, but a good friend of mine absolutely swears by it! Maybe I should look into giving it a try.

  9. It's pretty amazing what holistic medicine can do for you. My mom once went to a woman who examined her toes and was able to tell her something about her allergies. It's just weird.

  10. I think acupuncture is amazing. I was so much calmer going through ICSI when I was having acupuncture - it totally de-stressed me. Hope you keep enjoying it.

  11. I've been reading more and more about acupuncture, and I'm definitely interested in checking it out. The place where I go for the occasional massage now houses an acupuncturist, which is pretty exciting. Maybe trying it will be my new year's resolution this coming year! :)
