Infertility Stimulus

My solution to the economy.

Instead of the $54 million dollars going to the Wine Train in California (I have no idea what that is, but is sounds yummy, but kind of silly) for the economic stimulus, I propose giving infertile families money to pay for IVF SET transfers (as to not run up health care bills) so that we will can have children.

Then because we are the neurotic ones who are just waiting to spend on our money at various cute kiddie extravaganza stores ranging from industries from food to furniture, we will single handedly stimulate the economy.

Really, it could work. :)

  1. LOL! SUCH a great idea! (Just don't mention to Obama the part about how we would then all qualify for tax deduction courtesy our new children), lol!

  4. Awesome idea!!

A couple years ago Tina Fey said that legalizing gay marriage would be the best boost the economy had ever seen. Imagine all those high-salaried DINK's spending a hundred grand a piece to throw an extravagant wedding. :)

  6. Great idea! This is actually what happens in NZ where I live. As long as you meet the criteria you are eligible for 2 full IVF treatments (or FETs done within a 2 yr period). BUT waiting times are very long and most people (me included) choose to pay themselves rather than risk waiting for the government $$ to come in.
I totally love your point that as soon as us IFers get pregnant then we'll stimulate the economy with our baby buying purchases though! I am dying to be able to walk into a baby store and legitimately buy something for. my. baby.

  9. I had the exact same idea! here in ontario, an "expert panel" has recommended government funded IVF but the gov't hasn't commented yet. no time like a recession to get this started! it'll pay for itself in no time.
