One

How is it possible that a year has gone by since this happened?

Remember this picture?

That was the best day of my life.

This boy, he just grabs my heart with every smile, tear, and babble. Can you believe Baby E turned O-N-E!?!?!?!

About a month before his birthday, I started researching all sorts of fun birthday themes for some elaborate party that would have most likely driven me absolutely crazy in planning (which I'm now saving for future years!). Luckily, my wise husband advised me that having a family party would be just as much fun at this point in his life. He was right!!

The week started out with both Granny and Grandpa flying up from California to visit right before my birthday last weekend. Then, Auntie flew in on Friday just for the weekend. Oh, how this boy is loved!!

The day started with some waffle cheers!

Along with playtime outside in his new jacket.

We baked a yummy Pumpkin Apple Harvest Cake and topped it with a fresh whipped cream, cream cheese, and powdered sugar frosting.

Yes, I have mad cake decorating skills.

We gussied up the place a little bit.

Then let him open gifts.

Since he didn't quite get the concept of smashing the cake, we helped him a bit.

This cute little face was then cleaned up in the tub which is one our favorite places.

I never imagined the depths of joy that motherhood has brought to me. The tears and frustration are tempered with smiles and laughter that make me glad to wake up every day. It's all because of him...

Love to my little boy.
Love to all of you.

xoxo

  7. Oh my goodness - I remember when he was born! He looks so happy, but I have to admit that it's tugging at my heart a bit that one day Eskil should be that old/big! And I see you have the Hanna Andersson jacket I'd love to get for Eskil except I don't understand US sizes plus have no idea what size Eskil would be next winter.

    Happy birthday, BIG boy!!!
